Wide open.

The new Series A holds its corners, its contrast and its colour at full aperture. There is no reason to close it.

Sharp wide open. Never clinical.

Wide open at T1.9 it resolves detail you can still grade, then lets go of it gently. Focus rolls off instead of falling off a cliff, so faces sit inside the frame rather than being cut out of it. The corners stay lit at full aperture.

Then you take it apart.

Ten elements in eight groups. Not one of them is there to make up the numbers.

This is what T1.9 costs.

Two anomalous-dispersion elements and a cemented triplet, carried so the corners hold at full aperture.

    We can prove every claim.

Three bundles enter: one down the axis, one at two thirds of the field, one at the corner. Each is refracted at the sphere of every surface it meets. This is not an illustration of the light path. It is the light path.

    Nobody shoots with one lens.

So a prime is only as good as the ones beside it. Change focal length mid-setup and nothing else moves: same T-stop, same colour, same 95mm front, same gear positions. The lighting holds, the matte box stays on, the focus marks stay good.
